Well they say they have a ceramic BB available. Either way, if it explodes, it should occur well within the 5 year warranty.

Someone quickly tell FSA... maybe they'll revert their warranty.

Glad to have Easton join the frey, but would not want to be the guinea pig here. Too many reports of problems with other newer cranksets (esp. FSA). Setting these up on a test rig cannot quite replicate real-world experience.

For what its worth (and a bit off topic), I just studied the new Easton hub design on their 2008 wheels. My impression is that they are cheaper/lower tech than the "R3"/Velomax hubs on the '07 Orion II's and Ascent II's. (Interestingly, they still have a link on their wheel page, http://www.eastonbike.com/PRODUCTS/WHEELS/wheel__top.html , touting the advantages of those older hubs even though they don't sell them any more.) Moreover, they've abandonded the twin thread spokes (which I've never managed to break) in favor of a nailhead spoke design that their own FAQ says is inferior. (I have the Orion II's and love them.)

I'm wondering whether the bean counters have gained the upper hand at Easton over the engineers . . . .

I guess they're out in early September...

~$650 for the set with ceramic bb. I'm thinking about it.
Looks like for once the manufacturing schedule is on time for a company. Good job Easton. And don't buy those off of ebay. If you have a warranty issue, as you might for first production run cranks, you are screwed.

I don't know about you guys but these prices are getting out hand. I think those middle aged lawyers should leave this sport alone and do something more productive like water skiing.

Yep. Ugly, like most CFcrank offerings. This one looks like a MTB crank. I miss aluminum. The last 9s Dura Ace cranks were gorgeous, as were the Campy Records before they all went black and/or carbon.

I'm waiting for this stupid fad to diminish.
