prior to lacing, a 28h Hi-E front hub's bearings were altogether smooth. After lacing (2x) they aren't. Any explanations for this change...? And how duz one adjust the bearings----I can find no means for doing that. Is there a special tool required?
Haven't heard anyone asking about Hi-E hubs for a long long time.
The hub is so light that tensioning would often cause problems with bearing adjustment -- the whole hub shell just stretches out. And there is no real adjustment with a Hi-E. It just gets tightened up and it's there. You're probably trying to get it to spoke tensions higher than it was originally designed for.
