So I have been considering buying a set of non-aero wheels for training on those windy days. I am currently running mavic cosmic carbones so they are pretty durable for everyday riding so its more for the windy days

anyone doing anythign similar? do you eventually feel like you just prefer the aero wheels and keep those on for the advantages?

Use what you have if you are OK with them for everyday. If its windy on race day, you'll be ready. Several of my friends have carbones for everyday, windy or not.

As long as you don't have extremely high gusts, those wheels should be fine even on windy days. I have no problems even in cross winds with my deep wheels, in fact, they are better in all wind conditions than my Ksyriums.
