Just wondering if anyone has any details about this accident? Many of us passed by there earlier that morning. "severe" head injuries.....sounds bad.
Normally that section of that road is fairly safe, fingers crossed, unless a driver swerves over. Thats just north of Stone Valley where the big stoplight is. Not sure if the rider was going north or south.

The California Highway Patrol was en route just after noon today to an accident involving a bicyclist who was hit by a vehicle northwest of Danville in unincorporated Contra Costa County.

The hit-and-run accident occurred at about 11:50 a.m. on Danville Boulevard at Via Don Jose.

The bicyclist reportedly has a severe head injury, according to the CHP.

Cyclist hurt in hit-and-run in Brentwood

A bicyclist was airlifted to the hospital with head injuries today after being struck by a recreational vehicle near Brentwood, Capt. Ben Whitener of the East Contra Costa County Fire District said.

A caller notified the district of a crash on Highway 4, or the Byron Highway, at Sunset Road at 12:47 a.m.

The victim, identified as a middle-aged man, was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, Whitener said.

Anyone with information about the accident or the driver is asked to called the California Highway Patrol at 925-646-4980.

(05-19) 09:40 PDT BERKELEY -- A woman riding her bicycle in Berkeley was struck and seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash by a motorcyclist fleeing from California Highway Patrol officers, authorities said today.

The incident began about 11:15 p.m. Sunday when two CHP officers in their cruiser saw a motorcyclist speeding on westbound Interstate 80 near Carlson Boulevard in Richmond, authorities said.

The officers began chasing the motorcyclist, who got off the freeway at Ashby Avenue in Berkeley and headed east, authorities said.

The officers broke off the case because of safety concerns, but the motorcyclist continued traveling at high speed and hit a woman riding her bicycle at Ashby and Acton Street, police said.

The woman was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland. The motorcyclist is being sought.

But wait, there's more......... But you gotta wonder about riding your bike around that dangerous area at 2:15 AM. I'm betting he may not have been wearing reflective clothing and a helmet, nor having too many LED lights blinking. Just a guess though.

Mayhem on Oakland streets leaves driver shot, bicyclist injured

(05-19) 13:20 PDT OAKLAND -- Oakland police investigated a shooting, a hit-and-run crash and an accident that injured a bicyclist - incidents that ended up being linked to each other, authorities said today.

It started about 2:15 a.m. Sunday when officers responded to a report of an injured bicyclist at Foothill Boulevard and 55th Avenue. When they arrived, they found a 20-year-old Oakland man lying unconscious on the street.

A witness told police that a Pontiac Grand Am had hit the bicyclist and had taken off northbound on 55th Avenue. Paramedics took the victim to Highland Hospital in Oakland, where he was reported to be in critical condition.
