Just heard from a friend in Brooklyn about a tornado that whacked his neighborhood!!! :eek: Pretty astounding pix showing up online.....

Kinda strange--it went through our nabe--and it was a few thunder rumbles, and then a heavy downpour--the kind that falls straight down with lots of water...no wind, no blowing.

By the time it hit Brooklyn/Manhattan it turned into an event--probably micro-burst rather than tornado--complete with 40mph wind, hail, lots of thunder.

There are lots of trees down in Brooklyn & awnings ripped off. They had to close the Long Island RR because of debris on the track--then they closed Penn Station. Poor folks trying to commute to Long Island were being told to take the subway to Jamaica to catch the trains... A couple of subway lines were shut down because of debris on the track

Snarled the airports pretty good as well...

OTH, my lovely wife caught the PATH train to Hoboken, and the train out to Suffern with barely a delay....
