I need to replace my rain bike and noticed that used Allez Epics are running in the $300 range on e-Bay & Craigslist.

I've never ridden one and I don't expect it to compare favorably to my Tarmac, but was hoping to get input as to how they ride, climb and handle.

Thanks!

never heard of an allez epic, do you mean allez elite?
No, the Allez Epic was made in the 90's. It had a frame made from carbon fiber tubes w/ aluminum lugs. My guess is that it's really comfortable but not the best for climbing.

Ah, steel. Now yer talkin'. :)
I know this is a Spec forum, but SHHH, maybe no one will notice....

I think it's okay since this thread's done.

I'd love to get a used Merckx Corsa Extra (had one stolen 15 years ago  ) but can't afford it. The other thing is that I'm not sure about using one for a rain bike. Same w/ the Curtlo & Gunnar. Will probably end up w/ a Panasonic-built Paramount since they're pretty affordable now.

You can find nice deals on the Allez if you shop around. I bought mine used (Barely) about 4 years ago. Craigs List for 400.00 bucks. You cant go wrong with that bike at that price. I have put about 10K on her since then.

To avoid confusion, here's a picture of the Allez Epic.
