Kind of a dinosaur question.

I belong to a listserv, and have for many years, it's closely related to my job, and is actually very useful. A couple of days ago, I posted a question about some hardware that we are thinking about buying. I was asking for picks-and-pans of the stuff that's out there as well as current implementation.

I know for certain that a member of the listserv forwarded my questions directly to multiple vendors who have since attempted to contact me (just what I need, more SPAM). The topper is that it appears that the person who did the forwarding is also a vendor of sorts and appears to be receiving some consideration for providing "leads" to others.

I don't have any problem whatsoever with vendors participating in the listserv. I did it myself when I worked for a vendor (it's a small industry), but dredging the listserv for "leads" strikes me as very uncool.
What sayeth the collective wisdom of teh lawnge?

Don't get mad, get even.

Really, getting mad only hurts you.

Chill.
