A Classic tubing

Amadeus tubing was used to compose many many frames during the classical period of frame building. It provided a symphony of different frame properties, and was strongly considered by Pinarello for their Opera frame.

Despite the wonderful qualities of Amadeus tubing, it's life was cut short by the competing Salieri tubing.

Rest of story.

Despite the wonderful qualities of Amadeus tubing, it's life was cut short by the competing Salieri tubing.
. . . but fortunately, the enterprising German instrument builder Karl Boehm bought all the remaining Amadeus tube sets he could get his hands on and used them to build transverse flutes. Because of the non-corrosive properties of the shiny tubing, he marketed his flutes under the trade name "Sauberfloete," which is German for “clean flute.”

As mentioned in a previous post, Guiseppe Pinarello then wrote an opera about this frame-to-flute venture. Due to an unfortunate transcription error, he named his opera “Zauberfloete,” (with a “Z”) which means “magic flute” in German. The name stuck, and Pinarello’s opera is still performed today under this “incorrect” name.
