I had a pair of handbuilt AC CR-350's which I just sold after buying a set of the Shimano's. IMO the Shimano wheels are less flexy but still have a better 'feel' to the ride. All in all I'm more than happy that I made the move to the C24 CL's. Got mine via eBay for $710 total including shipping. Then sold the DA skewers for $65 as I use Halo bolt-on skewers on my bikes. The Shimano wheelset is superb. Other reviewers seem to concur.
I now have two sets of WH-7850-C24-CL; I like them that much. Shopped around for something 'different,' but keep coming back to the C24-CL. Obviously my favorite wheels.
I haven't tried the 7850's, but another option is to spend less and pick up the RS80 C24s (same or similar rim, slightly heavier hubs, heavier freehub body).
Check the UK sellers, as they have them at a very nice price.
