Well, I know I'm the odd man out around these parts, having sold off my skinny-tired and fixed gear bikes, and consuming the BMX cruiser Kool-aid in massive quantities, but what the hell. It's my mid-life crisis, and I'll have it any way I want to!

So here's my new scoot, a Fireman's Texas Cruzer 26", done up in Lance Armstrong yellow. For those of you who, like me, were in your 20s in the early 80s, you might say that these bikes are a cross between an SE Racing OM Flyer and a Mongoose KOS Cruiser, with a 66-degree seat angle mated to a short looptail rear end, a 72-degree head angle and a loooong top tube. Smooth-riding and wheelie-tastic, these are some seriously fun bikes, welded in California by a former SE employee, and built up right here in Austin, Texas. I have the 29er version as well, and since selling my truck I use them both for everything from grocery and beer runs to pub crawls, commuting to work, even riding a couple of 45-to-65-mile charity road rides. Life is sweet!

Here's the 29er version:
