The Matrix Criterium (oldest in Texas).

A figure 8 course, very tight and somewhat technical. Rewards punchy riders who can sprint every few seconds for an hour or more, who have good bike handling and confidence in tight quarters. A very fun course, one of my all time favorites.

Nice course. I was going to ask how they keep the riders from colliding with one another at the intersection, but then I looked at the map a little closer.

They call that intersection "Checkpoint Charlie" and it's a great place to watch the race. During the P12 race a large break got away, the main field then split in 2, and there were 3 good sized groups chasing each other around the course.

It was super cool standing there and watching the leaders come thru turn 5 while the chasers came thru turn 1, all snaking around to the next corner. Made we wish I had a quality video cam.
