I'm in the process of simply bolting my Shimano brake calipers to a new carbon fork and wonder if I should use the little washer with the serrated edge.

My hunch is the washer keeps the calipers from rotating.

But I wonder if it will eat into the carbon.

Here again. my guess is the place where the brake attaches is reinforced substantially and may even have something other than carbon beneath the surface.

So anyone have any thoughts?

if the brake comes w/ the serrated washer, you should use it. just about every road bike on the planet now comes w/ a carbon fork...that should have been a clue. it won't hurt anything.

I had the same thought.

But sometimes get a little paranoid about the small stuff. :(
