Here in southern New England, I commute almost year-round, except when there's frozen stuff on the roads. Last year I missed about 10 weeks. This year, I only missed the last 3 weeks (plus a couple of random days earlier), and got back on the bike today. The mild weather and heavy rains that have washed away the snow did have one after-effect. From Thursday to Saturday the Connecticut River rose 13 feet (it's already dropped 5 feet by noon Monday). The stretch of riverside path that I sometimes include in my commute route became an in-the-river path over the weekend. The water had receded by this morning, but it was pretty sloppy. I should have taken the high road and stayed out of the mud (is that a political metaphor?) Still, very nice to be riding again.
