Every night when I come home from work, our two dogs surround me like I'm covered in bacon (I'm usually not). They quickly make it known that they would like to be taken out to do their business. More often than not they produce.

I often ask my wife "When was the last time you took them out?".
She replies, "I "just" took them out".

She believes the dogs are plotting against her and trying to make it look like she doesn't take them out.

I believe the dogs are plotting against me and really don't want to see me relax after work.

We can't both be right.

What say the lounge?

just take them out......my dog is a liar too.....I could feed her and 15 minutes later she sits by her dish when my wife walks in and tells her that she didn't eat yet

My dogs do this whether it's my wife arriving home or me. One of us coming in the door makes them hyper no matter how recently they were just outside.

Walking them more often certainly helps keep their reaction more subdued.

you've created a problem for yourself by introducing the 2nd potty time into their schedule. They really like to keep on schedule.

You're the alpha male. They seek your permission and your approval.

I have a third possibility, perhaps one of my neighbors is shooting their magnetic ray gun and into my house and performing mind control tricks on my dogs. I'm going to craft small tin foil hats for them and see how this works.

Report back.

Dogs will be all over you whether you were gone for five minutes out to the garage, or for a week. Doesn't matter. Went out 12 seconds ago? Maybe something's different out there now, can't be sure without investigating.

I fool my dog all the time.....when someone comes over and she gets all excited I put her outside and tell her there's more people coming....she falls for it every time....out the door to greet them....I do the same when they leave...."look Lacy. there's more inside..."
