Look at the sizing... depends on the manufacturer. I wear some base layer in XL that is too loose, and some in L that is too snug. Note the Performance base layer runs about a size large...I've found stuff at Target that works well and is cheap..also check ski shops. A lot of cycling stuff is marked way up. You can find something else that is intended for another sport but works just as well for less $$$$....

Yes if not 2 sizes. If you want a summer baselayers, it absolutely should be skin tight and not many manufacturers make it this way. Under Armour does, also Brazilian Jui Jitsu and surfing rashguards are skin tight but tend to be a heavier fabric. If it's a winter baselayer, I don't have them skin tight.
