There is some recent news and insinuations that Fabian Cancellara had a small motor in his bike that helped him win his big races this week. Some are calling it "mechanical doping. " Italian TV says its possible and there is a Youtube video to go along with it.

My personal opinion is that a motor and battery kit may be possible but the idea of helping a pro ride a 6+ hour race seems unlikely as a battery that small would likely give out very quickly. In Japan, battery assisted bikes are common but all have giant batteries to give the rider a reasonable range.
