In just a few short hours, the BMC Racing Team's classics squad including Philippe Gilbert, Thor Hushovd, Alessandro Ballan, and Greg Van Avermaet will be lining up at the start line to contend for the win at the 2012 Tour of Flanders. On their heads will be the new Bell Gage helmet, it'll be the first time the Gage has been raced.

The new Bell Gage replaces the outgoing Volt as the top tier road helmet in Bell's lineup. Odd name you're thinking, (we were thinking the same thing), the helmet is named after Gage Avenue, 3633 Gage Avenue to be exact, in the town of Bell. Bell is the birthplace of "Bell Auto Parts", widely regarded as the world's first automotive speed shop, it's where people went when they wanted to go fast.

The Gage with it's fusion in-molded microshell, 26 vents, channeled ventilation, and evolved sleek swooping lines looks fast. It features a new lightweight webbing, lightweight buckle, and lightweight cam-lock levers, bringing it down to a weight of just 240 grams, lighter than the outgoing Volt. Similar to the Volt, the Gage will feature Bell's TAG Fit System and X-Static Padding. Available in three sizes, small, medium, and large.

The Gage will MSRP for $190 in the US and should be available at your favorite Bell retailer in the coming months.
