I've been learning more about power transfer on my road bike with the right pedal/shoe combo. Now I'd like to increase my power transfer on my CX bike for racing.

Right now, I am using the Crank Bros. Eggbeaters SL that has a very small platform. Does anyone know/think it would be better to use a pedal with a bigger platform such as the Eggbeater Candy or the new Crank Bros. Smarty http://www.crankbrothers.com/smarty.php to increase power transfer?

Thanks!

Pedal platform size seems less important than the stiffness of your shoe sole. If you use a carbon soled shoe, you probably won't notice a big advantage of going to the candy. The Eggbeater is the best for quick entry after a remount and it's the best in gnarly mud. I feel that is the most important quality for a cyclocross pedal.
