I came across this good website on safe biking and wanted to pass it on. It is by Michael Bluejay in Austin Texas (http://BicycleAustin.info is his volunteer project and an informative site for bicycle commuting in the Austin Texas area).

The web page is titled “How Not to Get Hit by Cars: Important Lessons on Bicycle Safety”

The only thing I will add is to expect the unexpected from vehicles. Turn signals (if used) can be misleading. A driver with a left turn signal on might suddenly spot a parking spot or street on the right and try to zip into it (making a right pass very dangerous).
