I'm very sorry to hear about his death.

But a pet peeve of mine is, why don't they simply say how a person dies in these sorts of announcements? "[M]edical emergency"?

I'm sorry to hear about this too but.... everybody dies eventually. Better to die doing what you love than as you're getting on a bus, sitting on the toilet, etc.

This happens at marathons too. That and the first big snow storm of the year. High heart stress event hitting an underlying condition.

It is so sad to hear of people going before what we deem as their time. But ditto what was expressed above...better to go doing what you love than not. And yes, enjoy the moment and appreciate life and those you love/those who love you. I speak from sad experience myself.

If you've never had a stress test performed, this is a good reminder that they can be helpful in finding underlying heart disorders prior to something like this happening.
