I won my class, but after my last lap I limped in with a very expensive sounding deep rod knock. HOnestly though, the engine was 31 years old with over 300k miles, most of which were on the track. It's been a racing engine since 6 months after the original car was purchased in February 1985.

Now, I'm about to spend 5k on a 120 hp Honda 1.5 liter 4 cylinder.

Sound crazy? well, yeah, but honestly, when it comes to our passions, are we really all that rational? Heck, I spent $2000 on a bicycle :D

How many times have you been into the bottom end? Probably some life left unless it's some kind of spec engine class.

Among other great racing advice I received from my now-retired from the past time aunt (whose car is now the one I drive) was one regarding choice of car - never drive something you are unwilling or unable to walk away from.
