Is there really any difference between calipers ? Or is it the pads that truly determine stopping distance ? I have been thinking of ditching the Sora's for 105's just to match the derailleurs but just can't justify spending the money for the 105's when the Sora's have no problems stopping me.

Fix it until it's broke.

Kidding aside, I'd try pads before IO switched brakes. And if you still swap out the calipers and stay with the same brand, the new pads are still usable.

I agree. I didn't know if someone might have a viable argument as to why the price diff is almost triple from Sora to 105 other than a minimal weight penalty if lets say both have koolstop salmons are the high dollar brakes going to stop any better ? I am thinking not, just a thought provoking question. I might have to repost results if I find an excuse to spend the money.

Yes there is a difference, but pads first is an excellent suggestion.

But those sora brakes are pretty stiff.
