What is the 'correct' way of measuring brake reach ? On my fixie project, I was planning on using a pair of the origional dia compe center pulls; but they are bent and pitted. They were *JUST* long enough to work - I notched 'em out a little more and now they would be perfect if they worked right.
So now that Im looking for a replacement, I need to know exactaly how long of a brake I need. Im sure I need 'long reach', as this bike had 27s on it (now fitted with 700s). I put a ruler up into the arch of the brake, and measured to the middle of the rim braking surface. which gave me about 56mm. Is this the correct way of going about it ? If so, then I believe that a 57mm reach brake is fairly easy to find ?
