How good is the quality of parts used in 2010 Chorus 11 Speed? I've read that bushes rather than ball bearings are used throughout the shifters, derailleurs and brake calipers but also read that ball bearings are used. I'd like to know what is used really and if bushes does this mean they won't last as long? Thanks.

I'm almost certain the shifters have ball bearings.

I've dismantled both 2009 Centaur and 2010 Athena shifters and both had ball bearings. Obviously both of those are below Chorus in the lineup.

My left shifter wasn't functioning correctly when new. I took it apart to see if anything was out of line and found that the cable ferrule was rubbing on the housing. There was a small burr in the slot that the ferrule sits in that prevented it from seating properly. A quick scrape with a deburring knife took care of the problem. While I had it stripped down that far I figured I'd go all the way.
