I crashed and the rear rim is shot in my 5 year old SL's. My LBS tried to fix but there is still a hop and it cannot be centered. They informed me I can send back and have Mavic rebuild with a new but its going to be costly.
Will a rim from another manufacture work or do I have to stick with Mavic?

You have to stick with Mavic. Their spokes only work on their rim.

I would consider buying a new rear wheel and/or wheelset.
