so im building my first wheelset. i figured out spoke length by numerous online spoke calcs.
when i buy the spokes, should i get get the spokes a little shorter than my calculations? like 2mm shorter?

Why would you go to the trouble of using a calculator and then ignore what they say? Heck if you're going 2mm shorter, why not 10? Then at least you'd save some weight.

SpokeCalc online gives accurate info. Plug in your components, lacing preference, then go and buy what the softwear recommends. I've built up about 6 wheelsets using SpokeCalc; never a problem

Are you in between two standard sizes available to you or are you rounding up or down from a decimal that the calculator ended up with?

Easier to cut 'em than to stretch 'em. Just sayin'.

If you have no way to thread them, you can only cut off 2 mm, before the thread runs into the shoulder of the spoke on the other inside end of the nipple.

call a bike shop and give them the rim, hub and lacing pattern. they will be able to let you know which lengths to use.
