I'm thinking about changing my headset to a spare Chris King HS that I'm not using.

I have the headset tools but curious about the C 40 headtube. Does it have an aluminum insert, full length or around the headset cup areas, or is it exposed CF?

My concern is the cup remover pushing into the CF as you tap the cup out.

I haven't had the fork off the frame since buying the bike and too lazy to do so if someone knows the answer.

Thanks in advance.

aluminum lined...

The C-40 head tube is lined with aluminum. If you're not using too many spacers, you might also consider the Cane Creek Solos or new Colnago headsets that have extended tops. These headsets increase the stack height, for a cleaner look.

Personally...

I wouldn't put a King headset on my Nag. I think King HS look odd on Nags or any Italian bikes and it's unnecessary on a road bike. I do have a King headset on my cross bike though. But like I said 'personally.' Anyone else agree?

I put a CK threadless in my C40 after the Record headset crapped out. I let the LBS install it. I have had zero problems with it. It works as advertised.
