Anyone have any experience pushing a 7-spd. C-Record (First Gen.) to 8-spd?

I thought so.

I'm running a first generation Chorus rear derailleur with a 9-speed Shimano cassette and friction shifting. The derailleur barely has the range to reach the largest cog. Both of the limit screws are practically backed out all the way but it works.

Not a spacing issue.

I'm moving the 7-spd RD to an 8-spd frame. Limit screw "capacity" for that particular RD is what I'm looking for.

I'm going to bet on a first generation C-Record/180 deraileur . . . NO. Now that I said that, you probably will.

I know, it feels wrong. Just weighing some options. Sell all. Move. Build new.

Trial and error. You might have to screw a limit screw almost all the way out, If so put some Blue Loc-Tite on the threads to help it not fall out
