About three years ago, the chainstay on my faithful steel commuter/workhorse 2002 Lemond Poprad sheared off completely from the derailleur hanger. For $50 I had it re-welded at a reputable frame builder's shop.

It separated again last week.

How many times can I have it re-welded, and still trust its structural integrity?

(I tried looking this question up on the inter-cloudy-webs as well as this forum, but I can't seem to find the correct keyword combinations!)

Thanks in advance.

I am just a steel bike rider and not otherwise a welding/brazing guru but I wouldn't think there's a limit on repair. Do you have pics?

The Welding Institute...of course!

That's just what I was looking for. They even mention chromoly. Thanks for the speedy reply.

I've certainly gotten my money's worth out of that frame; it's going on the wall!
