I went out for a short 20 mile ride today on Roop Rd and Canada Rd in Gilroy, CA. I didn't take many pictures but sometimes I had to stop and capture that absolute beauty of the area.

My dog checking out what I'm doing pre-ride.

I didn't take many pictures, but it was a fun ride. There were a lot of rolling hills that kicked my butt, and the roads weren't too nice. It was pretty windy but nice and sunny.

I'll definitely do that ride again.

Heck, I'd do that ride again!

How is the garlic smell this time of year?

Still a bit early for the garlic smell to waft around the valley.

Nice report Miiles! Have you ever gone up to Gilroy Hot Springs?

Maybe? I rode up to the bride at the top of Gilroy Hot Springs Road and turned around from there. Is that "it" or is there something cool if I had hopped the fence?

I caught myself taking a big breath of fresh air thru my nostrils looking at your pics. I guess it was a Pavlov response. Beautiful area. Too bad your taxes are high.

I love that area. My wife and I rode near there a few years ago. Lots of wind that day but was worth every mile of it.

looks nice - can you give directions ? I'll do that ride next time the wife goes down to the outlets.
Roop Road

It will turn into Gilroy Hot Springs Road (not a very nice road, parts are VERY steep and not well paved, wouldn't be fun to climb or descend)

And then right onto Canada Road, just past a firehouse on the right side of the road.

At one point Canada Rd will turn to the right, but I turned to the left to go out to these ranches. I went out and back on Jameison Road.

I was actually dropped off at Hunting Hollow and I just kind of explored the hills up there, I don't know that I would want to ride up Gilroy Hot Springs Road.

I have no problems (at least not last October) with Gilroy Hot Springs Rd - the portion between Roop and Canada.

It is generally part of the Tierra Bella Century (see the loop at the lower right of this).

Some folks may prefer the lower part of Roop Rd (I've never tried it) instead of Leavesley.
