hello,

i just picked up a used Cannondale CAAD4 R600, and it came with a Cane Creek C1 headset... it is basically in need of replacement, as it is loose ball bearings, many of them missing, and, well, i just don't want to mess with it. my question: can i replace the loose ball bearings with cartridge bearings? if so, does anyone know which ones would be the right fit? or, should i just replace the whole headset? it is 1" 1/8.

thanks!

Unless you have the tools and expertise to mess with a press fit headset, it's best to take it to a bike shop. Maybe some cartridge bearing will fit, but if they none will, then you will need to remove the old headset and install a new one specifically designed for cartridge bearings.

i had a problem with some cane creek scr1 brake levers that were missing a qr pin. i called cane creek in north carolina. for free, they sent me a new pin that snapped right in.

nice folks that will help you figure it out so you can get the right caged or cartridge bearings in there.
