Wipe it off, let the rest air dry, lube the chain.

Being new to cycling, and the East Coast, I got caught in the rain with my road bike. What should I be doing to care for the bike once out of the rain?
Clean the rims and brake pads.

You are good to go.

Lube the chain and consider thoroughly cleaning it along with the rest of the drive train. Water splashed up from the tires has lots of fine dirt particles that can accelerate wear. Check the wheels and make sure no water has found its way into the rims (I got caught in a storm and couldnt believe how much water was in there, had to pull the tires/tubes and rim tape, drain it, then let it air dry overnight).
