I see Mark Cavendish’s Specialized Power with Mirror Saddle had it’s carbon rails completely fail the day he won the Stage,

I’ll be looking if he has another one on his bike.

Does anyone know what happened?

I have one on my current ride…

Slammed forward, huh? Too much of Cav's legendary high wattage weight on those wimpy rails and they broke. How embarrassing. Back to CRMO, Specialized. Y'all blew it on Cav!

I still want to know the back story on the saddle rails failing. Chains falling off, and eventually Mark throwing his beeotch fit towards the mechanic. Maybe there's some anger about his bikes. He did continue to ride a power with mirror saddle through the rest of the Tour... I have well over 1k+ on one and like it a ton.

Well, you probably don't bounce up and down like Cav does when he sprints. Pretty obvious that's what causes saddle rails to break or come out of their sockets . When the saddle gave way, can imagine the shock and horror, and chain slipping off the chainrings. He had the right to lambast the mechs and the weight weenie saddle. Pray and don't bounce violently on the saddle, and your balls will remain intact.

So here's another point. The power with mirror saddle I have is mounted on a Thomson Elite. It was moving backwards in the clamp over time. I had the thing clamped tight, or at least as tight as the torque spec and probably tighter to try and over come the moving back. I was told the Elite post was fine. Low and behold there is an over size clamp Thomson makes for oval rails. A 7mm x 10mm clamp. The rails on the saddle are 7x9 rails. Using the over size clamp the saddle stays where it's clamped...

Thomson's as good as it gets. Yep, flexy seat rails and seat post clamps are always stressed out. So perfect fit really helps!
