What are the signs that the chain such has destroyed the frame? I know that area of the bike is built to withstand some shock, but how much? thx

I worked at a shop that sold Cervelo and it's all we heard about- chain suck. We even sent a frame to a paint shop out of town, at the owners expense trying to satisfy the customer. We got it back together and he went to another dealer to trade it off. Chain line is horrible in those. Maybe a different crankset would be a benefit. We never got that far. He dropped them like a... well you know.

To determine if your frame has been damaged, take a coin or a screwdriver blade and tap the frame at the damage point and immediately around it. If there is damage, the tone will change and become more like a dull thud (compared to the sound you get on the undamaged part)
