Well folks after a few thousand miles its about time to replace the rings on my ultegra tripple crankset. Even the baby 30 tooth is showing some wear from all of the hill and mountain climbing I did last summer.

I figure since my crank arms are polished it would be nice to pick up some polished rings as well. Right now I've got the standard "iced" rings and although they worked out wonderfully and shifted like butter, they look mighty nasty.

I would appreciate any recommendations you have, as well as your thoughts and experience about what rings well for you.

Oh btw, I believe the ultegra bcd is76mm? At least that is what my trusty micrometer tells me. And I'm running a 5-bolt crank and 9spd drivetrain.

Ribble cycle has a nice selection of Stronglight chainrings. Chainrings should last tens of thousands of miles, not thousands. If it's just cosmetic and you want to upgrade, that's your call, but you should get more miles out of chainrings before they require replacement.

Chainrings do not wear out after a few thousand miles. (unless they are made out of plastic)

Wow. I wish that was the case mountain biking. I bought the bike with about 3K miles on them, and I put another 3K on over the last 2 yeras. They look pretty trashed. I'm sure I can still run run them for a few thousand more, but I'd like to replace the rings and get something nicer.

Big bill, are the Stronglight's ramped? Its hard to get much info on them from that website. Thanks

Wow. You're using an ultegra crankset for mountain biking? You're not making much sense. The stronglights are pinned with differential cut teeth. They shift very well. You need to figure out your question a little better unless you are just trolling.
