I was wondering if it was really necessary to change the brake pads when switching out my aluminum rimmed clinchers to my Campy Hyperons? I've read that aluminum debris from the clincher rim gets imbedded in the brake pads and can cause damage to the carbon rims if you don't switch them out to carbon specific brake pads. Is this true? I've been switching them out but it's a real pain.

Thanks.

Yes, that is true. Some aluminum rims seem more prone to this, but why chance shredding $$$ tires for a cheap pair of brake pads?

Good point

But if there was no issue with using the same pads that would save some headaches.

Thanks
