When you are fitting a new bike do you get the bars first or the stem?? I have a new ride and I am dialing in my fit. Just curious, do you usually get a set of bars that work or the stem and then the bars?? I have a couple of throw away stems and set of EA30 bars. Before dropping the $$$ on a keeper stem and/or bars, should I find a set of bars that work or get a stem that works and then get bars or does it make a difference?

The bar's shape and dimensions are fairly important since it's a major contact point. The bar you choose has a direct impact on your reach and drop. For those reasons, I'd decide on the bar first, then go with a stem that puts the bar with where you want it. YMMV.
