I have an old Schwinn Corvett and the rear hub just spins and I am told it is a two speed bike. I have not been able to find anyone in my city that can repair it, and am looking for help. Can anyone help?

Help us out here. Do you kow what model year your Corvette is? Can you take a look at the rear hub and read the manufacturer engraved on the arm (the thing that clamps to the chainstay)? Is it Bendix? New Departure? Are there colored rings on the hub housing? If so, how many and what color?

I think it might be a Bendix "kick-back" two-speed, but you'll have to help us out.

Thank you for all replies. The Corvette hub has three rings on it and they are red, and the plate is marked Bendix. I am not very much of a mechanic and will need info. on where I might get it repaired. Thank You : T

OK, you have the Bendix Red Band two-speed rear hub with coaster brake. I have a copy of the overhaul instructions, and you can either try it yourself or find a local bike shop who would overhaul it for you with the instructions.
