Am I out of luck? These cycling shoes are 7 years old. I took the old cleats off and replaced with new ones. As I replaced them, I may have over tightened them to the point where the silver piece inside popped out.

Can this be repaired?

Hmm... not sure about this one.

Those nuts are usually affixed to the underside of the footbed. If a replacement could be found with a flat head, *maybe* that would solve the problem.

By "silver piece inside" I assume you mean the nut inside the sole into which the bolt threads. If you remove the insole from inside the shoe, you may be able to replace that nut with something called a T-nut, which you can get at a hardware store.
