Hey all, I currently live in NYC (Manhattan), and when I'm not working out on my Computrainer, I enjoy fairly regular rides in Central Park. I'll be spending a good chunk of the summer in Minnesota, specifically Burnsville. Can anyone point out any local clubs for rides/beginner (Cat 5) racing, or good road cycling trails in the area?

Thanks much in advance!

plenty

Check out the Minnesota Cycling Federation's site for the race calendar and message forum:

Plenty of clubs here too. The Birchwood club is big and has a lot of rides, some open to non-members. Check out their public forum, where you can inquire about rides, etc.

Also, the Twin Cities Bicycle Club:

Lots of MTB to do here too:

And one more option - track racing:

group rides and mtb trails

you could check Erik's bike shop for a suitable group ride too. they have, ar at least use to have when I lived there, weekly group rides of various tempo and style at each of their stores one of which is in burnsville. if youre into mt biking there's some really fun singletrack within burnsville at terrace oaks park or in eagan at lebanon hills. short ride to the river bottoms trail as well which is great for nite riding. or murphy hannrehan in savage is close....I could go on. the south suburbs are a good launch point for some good rides.
