I have a C40 Frameset i am trying to build up that i bought from ebay. I didn't get any barrel adjusters on the frame and it seems like one of them is left hand thread while the other is a standard M5 .80 pitch adjuster. Does anyone have any insight into this maybe a place I can buy one from ?

how do I find out what year my bike was made ?

I have a 2001 C-40. It was the first year of the B-Stay. The last year of the C-40 was in 2003. It had the HP chain stays (an ugly hole in the chain stay near the bottom bracket. I'm not sure if the 2002 version had the HP chain stays or not. I think it did. So your frame is a 2001 or maybe 2002. I think the frame you have is the most desirable C-40 produced.

I replaced the Dura Ace 9-speed stuff on the bike with Campy Chorus 11-speed a few years ago. I'm not over the top with the Campy Neutron wheels I put on it. I also had some cable guides replaced and had the clear coat sanded down and replaced. It was $600 and probably not money that well spent, but the bike has sentimental value. My wife and I bought the C-40 frames on our honeymoon bike tour in Tuscany.

Those cable guides were on the bottom of the top tube, so I really didn't notice them going to hell for a while. All that gunk was the aluminum cable ferule revering back to nature. I rode that bike a good bit. It looks good as new now. But lately I've been more enamored with my steel and titanium bikes.

And I still regret not buying the Mapei or Geo model. I thought the yellow swirly OOF was classy and understated, until I unboxed my wife's art decor frame and instantly became jealous.

Yes. They came in blue red yellow and I think black. Got a picture of a guy on the top tube? It’s should have a front derailed braze on.

If those two pics you posted are before and after, the repair may have been costly but looks to be worth it. Also, for what it's worth, the bike deserves Campagnolo.

what size tires do you guys with c40's run i would like to have 25c tires but it seems like i can only have 23c tires

I doubt 25’s will fit. 23 tires these days are what 25’s were 20 years ago. You need Vittoria corsas with the tan sides.

Yeah Dog —- before and after. That guy did a terrific job. Redid my wife’s c40 too. She put dura ace on hers.

They're nice riding tires. They're Italian. They look nice on an Italian bike. What will they do for you? Probably nothing. And I doubt a Conti 25 will fit on that bike. They run kind of large.

I assume you'll be putting SRAM on it?

i was thinking of trying it but atm i will be running dura ace 7800 shifters and ultegra 6700 for the rest but id like to try sram red 10 speed for the weight
