if by "columbus extralite"you mean columbus EL or EL oversize (EL-OS) ,it's a fully modern butted niobium alloyed steel (nivachrom)and one of the nicest riding steel tubesets ever produced. tho no longer considered world class in regards to weight, its balance of performance and ride qualities have not been significantly bettered even today, particularly in the EL-OverSize versions.
