Commuting in Southern England

I will be traveling to work in England for a month in the near future and am planning on bike commuting after being there for a few days. My question is how to find a route. I can get a hotel anywhere but I have no way of knowing what roads are bike friendly. I was thinking about calling a LBS. Any suggestions

Thanks in advance Matt

P.S. I will be working in Crawley if there are any locals

I see you've already posted on the Cycling Plus forum which is the first thing I woulda suggested - it's hard to suggest a route with only the destination chosen - if I were you I'd stay as close as possible to work and take a cicrcular ride in the morning/afternoon - there's lots of nice riding around Crawley - will you be on mtb. or road bike? when will you be in town?

BTW did you mean the Isle of Wight rather than the Isle of Man? you gotta get a map - it's like asking if Oregon is near Florida

here's my commute in London:
