I have gone through a bunch of Conti's since last year and all seem to start to throw off little threads of the tire close to the bead. Like where teh material changes from rubber along the side wall near the bead. I've never had a blow out or bulging along the sidewalls but it almost looks like its cording along the seem.

Anyone else have any experience with this?

All the time. I've got a bunch of Conti GP 3000's from Pro Bike Kit when they were being phased out. Yeah, lots of little threads near the beads. I don't think anything about 'em; I just clip them off and keep riding. Never had a problem yet.

They put those in there to really enhance the handmade look. JK

They are no big deal I just clip them off with a pail of nail trimmers.

Ok, thanks. They didn't look bad but was a little disconcerting. I'm off to the Aids LifeCycle #7 this Friday and don't want any problems over the 7 day event.
