I am considering converting my old Centurion to fixie. my wife has blown just enough money recently to allow for me a small, very small splurge. Should I replace the 105 Biopace--with what ? I also am going to have my LBS build me a wheel. Any suggestions on good cheap and strong Hub/spoke/rim recomendations?

Thanks

Check out the IRO website they have cheap (yet good) hubs they have cranks, cogs, lock-rings. everything you need for your conversion and they won't break your bank. I just got the deluxe wheel set and a cog and lock-ring for $300

I replaced the existing hub in a wheel I had with a Surly double-fixed hub from LBS @$72. Any reason you don't want to re-use your rim/spokes? And the Biopace will work, if you like Biopace, or just replace the chain-ring with size of your choice.

Just beware of cheap rear cogs - I stripped one side of my hub because a cog had poor threads.
