I just got back from a RV trip to northern Ontario. This isn't my 1st trip up there by a long shot but felt compelled to ask this question:

Has anyone on here (or know someone who has) attempted/completed a trek across Canada? I can't imagine riding along Highway 17 in northern Ontario what w/ the hills along Lake Superior & transport traffic. In a lot of places there is no paved shoulder. IMO riding out in the lane is just asking for problems.

I haven't, but have traveled that highway a few times. I would never in my life consider riding on that highway. It should have had paved shoulders added when they repaved 10 years ago, but they didn't. (Of course doesn't surprise me, ON gov't only cares about the GTA and anything out of that region doesn't count).

Some sections do have wider paved shoulders than others, but still,
having transports flying by you @ a hundred kph, a few feet away isn't something I'd consider either.
