My wife and I and another couple are thinking of doing a cycling trip in Vietnam with Spice Roads Cycling Tours. The trip we are focusing on is 922 km over 11 days. My concern is that most of the riding is on "the new Ho Chi Min highway" where "you will have the road mostly to yourself" and "enjoy the smooth tarmac". Part of our goal on the trip is to pass through little villages off the beaten path, and I am trying to figure out what riding on this highway would be like. Riding on a (even safe) major highway removed from stuff is not what we are looking for.
In addition to emailing the tour operator, I thought I would ask if anyone here has ridden on the NEW Ho Chi Min highway and what that was like.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
