NEW KICKS | Giro's New Road collection has been updated for 2014, including these hiking boot inspired lace-up shoes. -JS

TOOL NUT | Birzman makes innovative tools and pumps, that are beautiful pieces of art, and fully featured products. If you're a tool nut their equipment has incredible functionality that make a lot of sense when being used, and they'll be an excellent product for home, shop, travel and daily ride use. I really liked their small foldable tools, tire pumps with quick connect features and shock pump that doesn't loose pressure during removal. -BM

STIFFER | Raleigh has revamped its top end RC Pro cross bike, adding thru-axles front and rear. -JS

ENDURANCE FRAME | Meet the new Lapierre Pulsium, an endurance-style road steed that's being raced on the rough cobbled roads of Europe by the FDJ WorldTour team.

THE CHAMP | Reigning US national cyclocross champ Jeremy Powers says he's already spent time on the new Focus CX frame with thru-axle front and rear and says braking and steering improvements were immediately noticeable. -JS

RAPID AXLE | Focus has revamped its top end Mares CX frame with a new rapid release thru-axle that operates like a traditional quick release. This could be a long term solution to the argument against thru axle on pro road race bikes because it would speed up on-the-fly wheel changes. For now it'll just be on their cross bikes, though. -JS

HEART SMART | Wahoo Fitness were showing off their new TICKR heartrate chest monitor which communicates in both ANT+ and Bluetooth. This design allows the unit to work with Bluetooth based apps/smartphones and other ANT systems like Garmin computers. It retails for $59.99 and is available now. -BM

PEDAL PUSHER | Speedplay's Richard Bryne never stops refining his amazing pedal designs. Here he gets out the calipers to take measurements of the company's new Brass Knuckles pedals. -DP
