I was wondering if anyone knows of any mtb shoes that you could use w/ road pedals (speedplays specifically) ? I think it would be nice to have for some longer rides that involve some off bike activities as well (for example wine tasting or something like that)..

Crank Brothers. I used my MTB shoes with standard CB cleats (not quattro) all last summer while riding my road bike with Quattro pedals. Nothing wrong with using CB Candy pedals on a road bike. I have them on my commuter and it gets far more mileage than my road bike.

It is doubtful that you will find a MTB shoe that will accommodate a Speedplay X or Zero pedal. The cleat is much large than most MTB cleats.

Also consider that the Speedplay cleat is very susceptible to sand, dirt, etc. That is not a great pedal for a multi-tasker.

It is much easier to find a MTB pedal that works with both Road and MTB shoes.

What S-works MTB shoes and Smarty set up are you using? I am new to this and want a good Mountain Bike type shoe set up for my road bike.

Thanks,
Brian
