Yes you heard it right. Not until they get into Paris and onto the finishing circuit anyway and then it becomes a sprinters' race.

The final day is mainly ceremonial and a show for the crowds at the finish. As it's just about a dead-flat stage, none of the jersey-holding teams would let anyone get away anyway so they might as well have an easy day with a final show for the crowds and a prestigious sprint win for the fast men.

Look at it this way - do you think for a second that the CSC team, especially with Voight and Cancellara on it, would allow an Evans upset? Not a chance.

The last time there was an attack on the last stage was when Vinokourov (T-Mobile) attacked Levi Leipheimer (Gerolsteiner) in order to dislodge him from 5th place, thus putting 3 T-Mobile riders in the top 5. Needless to say LA won that tour. I believ it was the 2005 edition.
